The Bargaining Committee plays a central role in negotiating on behalf of our members to protect and improve working conditions, compensation, and professional rights. Working in partnership with the union President, the committee helps select and support the Bargaining Team, subject to Executive Board approval.

This committee is responsible for conducting negotiations with district representatives to establish Collective Bargaining Agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs). Members of the committee stay informed on negotiation procedures, including impasse, mediation, and arbitration processes, and work closely with the Organizing and Political Action Committee to align messaging and support.

Regular communication is a priority. The Bargaining Committee provides updates to the Executive Board and keeps the membership informed through bargaining communiqués, presentations, and general meetings—especially during the ratification process. Member feedback is essential, and the committee conducts surveys to ensure bargaining priorities reflect the needs and concerns of our educators.
