The Special Education Committee advocates for the needs of special education staff and students by addressing the unique challenges within special education programs. This committee meets regularly to discuss pressing issues, share member concerns, and identify areas for support and improvement.

Members may collaborate with the Negotiations Team and Executive Board when special education-related items arise during bargaining. The committee also represents the union at AESD-sanctioned special education meetings and school board meetings when SPED matters appear on the agenda.

By staying informed and engaged, the committee ensures that the voices of special education professionals are heard and that their working conditions and student supports remain a priority within the district.
